Coronavirus Policy
BB Holistic Therapy

This policy summary outlines the key measures Becci Barnley (BB) of BB Holistic Therapy (BBHT) has taken and will continue to incorporate into daily practice during the Covid-19 pandemic.  These measures are required to work safely and minimise the risk of Coronavirus transmission.  Please note the content may be subject to change.

Adhering to Guidelines

Throughout the pandemic, BB will be following guidelines issued by the government, NHS, other relevant authorities and her professional association, regarding safe and hygienic practice and the use of any personal protective equipment (PPE).

COVID-19 Risk Assessment

BB has carried out a full risk assessment, in line with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in order to:

•    Identify what work activity or situations might cause transmission of the virus;
•    Think about who could be at risk;
•    Decide how likely it is that someone could be exposed; and to
•    Act to remove the activity or situation, or if this isn’t possible, control the risk.

Consultations and Health Screening

BB will be monitoring her own health and deferring treatments if she has COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.

Client consultations will now take place the day before appointments.  They will be held via telephone or video conferencing.  Covid-19 screening will now form part of the consultation process with clients and treatments will be deferred if:

•    They have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19;
•    Anyone in their household or support bubble has COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19;
•    They have been in close contact with someone who has symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days;
•    They have been contacted by the NHS Test and Trace Service and told to self-isolate;
•    Anyone in their household or support bubble is classed as clinically extremely vulnerable and was asked to shield.

BB will ask clients to call and defer treatment on the morning of their appointment if they have a temperature or other symptoms of COVID-19.

Enhanced Cleaning and Hygiene Measures

BB has introduced enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures between clients, which includes washing and disinfecting any non-porous surfaces and therapy equipment, such as chairs and couches, and replacing any non-porous or single-use items, such as towels and couch roll.  Strict personal hygiene measures will also be adhered to, including regular handwashing/sanitising.

Adapting/Restricting Treatments

As a control measure to mitigate the risk of infection transmission it may be necessary for BB to adapt or restrict certain treatments.

Maintaining Social Distancing

As treatments involve close contact, BB will wear appropriate PPE as outlined in Government guidance.  BB will observe social distancing measures at client arrival and departure where conversation will be kept to a minimum.

Covid-19 Cancellation Policy

If a treatment is cancelled or deferred at short notice because a client has COVID-19 or has symptoms of COVID-19, any standard cancellation fee will be waived.  The client will be asked to kindly confirm in writing that their appointment has been cancelled or deferred because they have COVID-19 or symptoms of COVID-19.

NHS Test and Trace

BB will be assisting NHS Test and Trace to help contain clusters or outbreaks.  A temporary record of client appointments will be held for this purpose only, for which client consent is required.  Although BB encourages clients to provide their consent, they can opt-out if they so wish.
